Haste

Haste is like compound interest. The more you do it the more it multiplies into more haste which in turns increases your chance to make life altering mistakes. Anything going faster than it is capable of going is a weapon of destruction. When you feel pressured to rush, step back for a second and count up the cost. Then proceed at a regular pace.

Opportunity

Opportunity

When opportunity knocks, will we be ready?  Here’s the truth, opportunity is already knocking.  It seems as though we are all waiting on our ship to come in.  When it does, I hope we have been doing what we need to do everyday to be in position to handle it.  If we don’t take this opportunity today to prepare, we won’t be ready when our ship comes in, and thus miss our opportunity.

 Scripture Reference:

 John 7:6

Jesus therefore saith unto them, My time is not yet come; but your time is always ready.

Helping Others

We can not under estimate how important it is to stop and help others. It is so easy to get focused on what we’ve got going, that we neglect the fact that someone else may be in need. I have learned that sometimes just taking time to stop and listen to someone who just wants somebody to talk to goes a long way with them. It also makes us feel better as a person. Another thing is this; when we are going through difficult times, that is one of the best times to help someone else. What you help happen for someone else is the same someone will do for you in your time of need.

Love

Real love is not an emotion, it is a word of action. I know  when we say that we have fallen in love, we are talking about how we feel. Well, what happens when we wake up one day and we don’t feel that way? Love is about a choice that we make regardless of how we feel. It’s all good when our emotions line up with the decision we’ve made to be with someone. But the Agape love takes no account of what the other does or even how it makes them feel, but only on doing what real love does. Keep this in mind also, Love is not a door mat!!

Scripture Reference:

I Corinthians 13:4-8(a)

Love suffers long, and is kind; love does not envy, love vaunts not itself, is not puffed up, does not behave itself unseemly, seeks not its own, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; rejoices not in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bares all things, believes all things, hopes for all things, endures all things.  Love never fails:

People

People are the most valuable asset in the universe. The problem with people is that we often do not recognize our own value. This causes us to conduct ourselves in such a way that does not reflect the value of our lives. Remember also that life is not a sprint,  but a long distance event. As you run your race, remember that you are priceless and that change takes time.

What Is Your Legacy

Legacy is defined as anything handed down from the past. Don’t be fooled, it is not just about things such as jewelry, cars, houses, and money. The legacy that you leave behind to your loved ones will also consist of a way of thinking, talking, responding, and doing. Yes, we should leave behind a good financial legacy, but if we don’t teach our children how to think, talk, respond, and do properly, then the money won’t really matter.

Scripture Reference:

Proverbs 13;22(a)

A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children:

Ecclesiastes 7:11-12

Wisdom is good with an inheritance: and by it there is profit to them that see the sun. For wisdom is a defense, and money is a defense: but the excellency of knowledge is that wisdom gives life to them that have it.

Succeed & Grow

There is a fine line between preparing for the next step in life and taking some of the steps as you learn. We should always sharpen the ax before we start in on the tree. But here, we are talking about sharpening the ax while in the process of taking on the tree. I have come to find that the success I have experienced, has always been better when I was getting out there and starting with what information I had, and learning more as I went along. So in short, we may never know all we need to know in any given field, but we can definitely know more through the experience of doing as opposed to just gathering information.

Worry Not

To worry is to use your imagination in a way in which it was not designed. When we worry, we are using our ability to think creatively in reverse. The next time you face a situation that tries to get you to use your own creative power to paint a picture of an outcome you don’t desire, STOP!,  and force your mind to think thoughts that paint a picture of the outcome you do desire.

Scripture Reference:

Philippians 4:8

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
