Look Past The Pain

“Look past the pain”, is the thought that came to me one day. I did not have to take time to figure it out. I knew what it meant the moment I heard it in my spirit. I remember those days when I was an athlete, and there was and still is this popular saying. “No pain, no gain.” Many of us don’t gain in life because we abort because of the pain. As I said in an earlier article, there are two kinds of pain. The kind that we inflict upon ourselves and the kind that is inflicted upon us by others. Either way its pain and it doesn’t feel good. But pain can be our friend if we can embrace it long enough for it to produce something. You never know, and entire nation might benefit from the results. I know it’s tough to look past it when we are right in the middle of it. But pain creates focus and generates power, power to change. To change us, to change our families, to change our communities, and to change our world.

It Will Come To Past

Just about all us have something in our life that we want to see come to past. We have a vision of what it is and can see it as clear as the day. But sometimes when we look at where we are in life, it looks nothing like what we see in the vision we have as to where we want to be in our lives. When we see this, we have a tendency to get discouraged and give up pursuit. A vision will only come to past through much focus, discipline, work, and most of all, change. We must be willing to quickly engage the process of changing ourselves when it becomes evident that there is a need for it. Stick with it my  friends and it will come to past.

Let Go

It is amazing how many people have crossed my path that can’t seem to let go. Myself included. In this post, I’m not going to speculate or give any examples because we all know of the things that we need to let go of. These things are sucking the life out of us and robbing us of our relationships. One day soon we may look up and be at the end of our lives and realized that we have allowed ourselves to be held captive by these things. That would be very sad. As I sit here sharing these words with you, the power statement just came to me.

Don’t Lose Your Head

I have often asked teenagers I have worked with over the years this question. “If I were to cut off one of your outer body parts, which one would be the one that would be certain death if I cut it off?” Every single time the answer was, “My head!” If this is true physically then I believe it to be true overall. In any given situation, those that have the best opportunity to succeed are the ones that chose not to lose their heads.

Timing

Over the years, I have pushed and tried to force many of the things I wanted to see happen in my life. Big mistake my friends. If the timing is not right, we can push, pray, cry and everything else. Most of all we are going to accomplish is getting frustrated. If the time is not right then it usually means that we still need to grow some in any given area of our life. Besides, do we really want what we want when we are not ready to handle it.

One Life To Live

I’m not talking about the old soap oprah, I’m talking about the one life that we all have to live. Let’s not live it with regrets. We all have dreams that we want to see come to past in our lives. So what are we waiting on? We are not going to wake up one morning and find ourselves in the middle our dreams. We must get busy on the process right where we are. Now in some cases, getting busy may be as simple as growing ourselves in any given area of our life. To maintain our goals we must be prepared to handle it when it comes.

Moderation

To much of anything can be dangerous. The problem we have here in America is that we don’t know where the middle of the road is concerning most issues. Lets take eating as an example. Ther are very few resturants that actually serve the accurate portion sizes. The majority of the time what is put on our plates is two and some time three times the the serving size. If you don’t believe me, the next time you buy a soft drink or a bag of chip flip it over and read the nutrietional information on the on the back and you will see that the package is always more than one serving size. What else in life do we engage in that amounts to more than what is appropriate. Moderation is defined as the quality of  being  moderate; restraint; avoidance of extremes or excess. So moderation is not just for the amout of food we take in but for every area of life.

What Have We Learned From Our Mistakes

Mistakes are what I consider to be the building blocks of life. Now let’s be clear about the kind of mistakes I ‘m talking about. When we choose to ingage in things that we know we are not supposed to be, then that is not what I consider to be a mistake. That would be stupid. Although we can learn from acts of stupidity that we all frequently engage in, but what we are talking about today are honest efforts to get things done that for some reason turn out completely wrong. Whoops, that would be a mistake. When things like this happens a process of profound learning takes place. Profound because when it happens this way there is a level of unexpected loss and or pain. The loss and pain creates a powerful memory that greatly helps us aviod the same type of behavior in the future.

Are You Doing Your Part

I love to asked serious questions when I write. It causes deep life changing thoughts upon the reader, including myself. In any given situation we all know what are part is. But many of us are doing just enough to make it look like that we are doing our part. But we know that we are short changing others and even ourselves. When we allow this to happen we chip away at our confidence to lead an above average life.

The Master Keys To Sucess

Everybody wants to be successful in whatever they are doing. I believe that there are two master keys that will guarantee success in whatever we are pursuing. They are, repetition, which is to do it over and over and over. Secondly, is persistence, which means that we don’t give up when it doesn’t seem to be working and or we feel like it should have happened by now. Sounds kind of boring doesn’t it. You can set goals and time frames to help yourself gage, but we must be careful about that because if it doesn’t happen within that time frame or shortly after, most people throw in the towel. The best example is exercise. People want to set a goal and put a time frame on the expected results, and if it takes to long to see the results desired they jump ship. There are no quick solutions to success. Sometimes things almost take a life time.  So, do that thing over and over until it produces the desired fruit.
