Prayer Changes Things
Growing up in an impoverished black community did not seem to all that tough until I began to see what things were supposed to be like. Most of the time, all my grandmother would say about a situation was to just simply pray. One of her favorite sayings was, “Prayer Changes Things.” Well, growing up I did a whole lot of praying, and very little if anything seemed to change. It took me along time to figure out that prayer more than anything was slowly changing me so that I could change things in my life. What a revelation!!!

Fun Time
Business before pleasure is how the saying goes. But let me tell you that the former is not as important as the latter. To take care of business and not have any fun time planned will eventually hinder our ability to take care of business. All work and no play make life boring everyday. Seriousl, everything in life must have balance. Our play time is our time to refuel and release so that we can continue down our road of success.

Chose To Love
It is a choice that can bridge any gap. When we look out and see that someone has wronged us or someone we love, it is very difficult to choice love and forgive. This does not mean to allow people to get away with murder. But what it does mean is that we don’t allow our hearts to become hard.

Think, And Think Hard
“Think, and think hard.” One of my mentors spoke those words. You see, when we face challenges, most of the time the answer is right between our ears. It’s in there, but somestimes it is very difficult to pull it out. To think hard does not mean to strain your brain, but to think smart. Write down your thoughts, have a conversation with someone you trust, or read something about someone who is dealing with the same kind of issue. So to think hard is to think smart.

Change Is Good
Change is good, it really is. I wonder how much we miss out on in life because we get so tunnel visioned concerning our approach to life. It could be a career change or just getting involved in something that your spouse or your kids love that you really have no interest in. There are many things that I have tried because my wife likes them, to find out that I like them too. But I didn’t find out I like them until I changed my attitude about them and began to participate. Sometimes we just need to change because we need to change, and you know what I’m talking about. Nevertheless, we all experience change, but it is a better experience when we choose to have the right attitude.

I Don’t Care
I DON’T CARE!!!!! Those sound like some very harsh words. But in actuality they can really come in handy when something is tormenting our minds and we have no control over the situation. Sometimes we need to allow ourselves to separate from the situation that just seems to keep pulling us end. It’s kind of like that famous line in The Godfather III. ” I try to get out and they just pull me back in.” Well if he would have just said hey, ‘I don’t care!’ , it could have helped him to just walk away. But instead, he allowed himself to get pulled in again and it ended up costing him big time.

Be A Role Model
Most of the time, the difference in someone making it and not is the presence of a role model in there life. I know what it feels like not to have a good role model. It’s like having a dirty trick played on you. You really think you’re okay until its time persevere Then you realize that you really don’t know how. I found me some role models in the books I began to read. Now I’m doing the same for others.

Greatness II
Greatness is a road where there is very little traffic. Many hear the sound of it and say that it is the way for them. Many never get on the path and the majority of those that do take the first exit after they come to know what is really required. In order to be great, there must be something about you that really sets you aside from all the rest. One key component of greatness is surviving adversity, no , it is even more than surviving it. It is the ability to go through it with the understanding that it, adversity, is the main ingredient. You see, greatness demands that we have something to share that is uncommon when we get there. Without having to go through something that brings extreme pressure to the table, greatness will never be forged in our lives. The adversity, whatever it is must be embarrassed while passing through it, knowing that without it you will never reach your destination. I good attitude is imperative. Without it, one would be likely to exit the path or miss the point all together. I can say that I really understand why so many exit the path or never really get started. It is a lonely road where extreme exercise techniques are required multiple times a day. Exercising your faith, training your mind to think in the direction of your destiny, responding appropriately to the negative voices that illegally invade your space, and purposely feeding yourself healthy words and images. Greatness does not demand perfection. Perfect people have not learned anything, and therefore cannot lead others. As for me, I am not perfect, and when I look around me and see my family and the pain in our communities, I can not exit the path. I can not give up. Those that desire greatness must endure the hardness of it. Soon we will be in a place that will allow the details of the path to be told, and those that hear it will be encouraged within themselves to a better example to others. Some may even decide to journey the path to greatness. Greatness, it’s in us all, but not all are willing. When we are all used up and there is nothing left, it will be a enjoyable time to look back and know that life meant something. That your life made a difference in the lives others. To be great is not arrogance, but it is a confidence that says, “I will not be denied”

Do You Believe
As I sit and listen to the rain fall outside my window, I just wonder how it all came to be? How does the rain fall to the earth, and how do all the streams flow down hill into the rivers and rivers into oceans and great lakes? How does the wind blow and what is the force behind it? I often wonder what makes the sun shine and why does it just happen to be the perfect distance away and giving off just the right amount of heat. How did it come to be that the plants need what we give off and we need what they give off. Tell me how it is that the birds can fly and fish can breath under water. Have you ever stop to think how your heart beats and your lungs breath air even though you haven’t told them to do so? Everywhere we look, if we look close enough we can see the work of someone’s master piece. It all works to well to have just happened by chance. I believe, how about you? I would love to read your comments on this matter.
