Make It Happen

Whatever it is that we want to have, it is going to be up to us to make it happen. It’s not up to our parents, and it has nothing to do with how they raised us or treated us. If our parents did not raise us well, then for some of us it may take more effort and study to get there. But rest assure that our sucess is up to us and not our parents or God. God has already done his part. He has given us what we need to achieve our goals. We just need to fine tune ourselves and we will move toward to the realization of those things we desire. God has made it clear the if we keep his law then what we do will be very fruitful.

Don’t Stop Believing

The battle is won and lost in our minds. Whether its victory or defeat that shows up in our lives, it is most likely the result of victory or defeat that has already occurred in our minds. We are all constantly thinking about something, good and bad. But here is the interesting thing that I have come to understand about thoughts. Bad thoughts just seem to come no matter what. We don’t have to use any mind torque to get bad and negative thought patterns to going.  They are intrusive and destructive. Now, good thoughts, are thoughts that we have to purposely think on. We have to train our minds for these kind of experiences. It’s like stepping on the gas and never letting up. The very moment we let up and don’t purposely occupy our minds with positive thought, negative ones will automatically jump in with out our permission. So we should constantly be thinking and believing for the best.

Get It Right

We all want to get it right. But sometimes, it doesn’t happen. We make all the right moves based on what we believe to be true and still sometimes it all ends up wrong. We put so much pressure on ourselves to get everything right without understanding that the pressure that we put on ourselves to do so is the one major ingredient that is causing the ship to take on water. There have been many ventures that I have engaged in that all turned sour because of the added pressure. To get it right sometimes means getting it wrong first in order to see that we need to change our approach.

You Be The Light

Not much has changed concerning this issue since long ago. If we are going to have an upbeat positive life, then it is going to be up to us. We can not allow the surrounding circumstances to determine our state of mind. That includes people in our circle as well, especially those that are closes to us. This is not to say that our loved ones don’t love and care for us, . I’m just saying that we must take responsibility for our own happiness, our own mental health. We have got to be the ones that shine an encouraging light on our own path in life. If we wait for someone else or some magical situation to do so, well, they may never get around to it and that magical situation may never come. I don’t care what it is there is always something good to focus our minds on.

Prayer Changes Things

Growing up in an impoverished black community did not seem to all that tough until I began to see what things were supposed to be like. Most of the time, all my grandmother would say about a situation was to just simply pray. One of her favorite sayings was, “Prayer Changes Things.” Well, growing up I did a whole lot of praying, and very little if anything seemed to change. It took me along time to figure out that prayer more than anything was slowly changing me so that I could change things in my life. What a revelation!!!

Fun Time

Business before pleasure is how the saying goes. But let me tell you that the former is not as important as the latter. To take care of business and not have any fun time planned will eventually hinder our ability to take care of business. All work and no play make life boring everyday. Seriousl,  everything in life must have balance. Our play time is our time to refuel  and release so that we can continue down our road of success.

Chose To Love

It is a choice that can bridge any gap. When we look out and see that someone has wronged us or someone we love, it is very difficult to choice love and forgive. This does not mean to allow people to get away with murder. But what it does mean is that we don’t allow our hearts to become hard.

Think, And Think Hard

“Think, and think hard.”  One of my mentors spoke those words. You see, when we face challenges, most of the time the answer is right between our ears. It’s in there, but somestimes it is very difficult to pull it out. To think hard does not mean to strain your brain, but to think smart. Write down your thoughts, have a conversation with someone you trust, or read something about someone who is dealing with the same kind of issue. So to think hard is to think smart.

Change Is Good

Change is good, it really is. I wonder how much we miss out on in life because we get so tunnel visioned concerning our approach to life. It could be a career change or just getting involved in something that your spouse or your kids love that you really have no interest in. There are many things that I have tried because my wife likes them, to find out that I like them too. But I didn’t find out I like them until I changed my attitude about them and began to participate. Sometimes we just need to change because we need to change, and you know what I’m talking about. Nevertheless, we all experience change, but it is a better experience when we choose to have the right attitude.

I Don’t Care

I DON’T CARE!!!!! Those sound like some very harsh words. But in actuality they can really come in handy when something is tormenting our minds and we have no control over the situation. Sometimes we need to allow ourselves to separate from the situation that just seems to keep pulling us end. It’s kind of like that famous line in The Godfather III. ” I try to get out and they just pull me back in.”  Well if he would have just said hey, ‘I don’t care!’ , it could have helped him to just walk away. But instead, he allowed himself to get pulled in again and it ended up costing him big time.
