Where Did Our Prisoners Come From
Have you ever stopped to think about where the majority of our prisoners come from? Most of them have been casted away by all the rest of us. Yes, there are those that are just criminals and nothing else. But I’m talking about their origin, what it is that most of them have in common. Take a look at these staggering statistics. Over ninety per cent of them suffered child abuse and abandonment. I heard a story once that a particular card company gave cards to the prisoners to give to there moms on mothers day. Well, it was such a hit that the same company decided to do it again on fathers day. When the request went out to the prisoner as to how many would like a card to send to their dads, to the companies surprise, they didn’t receive one request for cards to send to fathers. This story speaks for itself. All in all, hurt plus alone, plus angry equals to locked up most of the time.

Our prisons are full of hurting young men and women. Many of them are there because they simply reproduced what was sown into there own lives.

The Media
We should be very careful as we listen in to the pictures that the media paints for us everyday. They do not have our best interest at hand. Rarely, if ever do they give us an accurate portrait of what happened. The news is brought fourth in such a way that will cause ratings and or push certain agendas that benefit that news reporting agency for the long term. Therefore, if the truth will not cause one or both of those to happen, then we’re not going to hear the truth. We must not allow ourselves to lead blindly to the chopping blocks. We must know the truth for ourselves. Leaving it up to the media will cause our emotions to get on board with something that may not even be real.

Power Quote:
What is largely missing in American life today is a sense of context, of saying or doing anything that is intended or even expected to live beyond the moment. There is no culture in the word that is so obsessed as ours with immediacy. In our journalism the trivial displaces the momentous because we tend to measure the importance of events by how recently they happened. We have become so obsessed with facts that we have lost all touch with the truth.
Ted Koppel ( 1940 – )
America
Without a doubt, we are still the most powerful nation on the face of this earth. I’m not just talking about our military. As a nation we must individually continue to pursue what we know to be right and not what always feels good to us. We are facing some struggles right now because many of us seem to think that our voice or efforts won’t make a difference. It is time for us to speak up for our country and the things that it was founded upon. I encourage anyone that reads this post to educate themselves about The Constitution of The United States of America. When a nation falls into a pit, it is primarily because the people of that nation have allowed it to happen by silence and inactivity. Shame on us! The time is now to know the truth and act upon it.

When good people in any country cease their vigilance and struggle, then evil men prevail.

Fearful
Just because we feel fear doesn’t make us a coward. We become cowardly when we allow that fear to cuase us to do the opposite of what is required. We will always feel the precence of fear as we advance in life. That doesn’t mean we are cowards and we can continue on with our plans in the face of fear.

Many of our fears are tissue-paper thin, and a single courageous step would carry us clear through them.

Selfishness
We should always be checking our motives. If we are moved by our own self-centered thoughts then we are missing it altogether.

Most people are good. There aren’t many really evil people. But there are an awful lot of selfish ones.

Friendship
Friendship can only be experienced if we will first be a friend to someone else.

Discouragement
Discouragement is designed to make you feel like all of our efforts were a waste of time, and that things are never going to work out. Discouragement is nothing but a fickle emotions with a big bark and a bite that at first feels like it is huge. We should step back, take some deep breathes as the smoke screen clears, and be ready to go at it again. We will still have an opportunity to suceed.

Eye Contact
Don’t be afraid to look people in the eye as you go about our daily business. It is the first way that we conect with other people. Do you notice that in public that most of the time when people lock eyes with each other that one or both of them will quickly turn away. We should go ahead and speak, it is our opportunity to connect with them.

Abuse
No one wins with abuse. Joyce Meyer said it perfectly, “hurting people hurt other people.” If something doesn’t happen to break the cycle, there is good chance for the abused to become the abuser one day soon. Abuse comrs in many forms. Physical, emotional, and verbal. People suffering from abuse are all around us. When the word abuse is uttered, we think about a parent abusing their child, a spouse abusing their partner , or a family member abusing another family member. Abuse also occures in the work place when some one in authority abuses those under them. Those that abuse others must be confronted appropriately or else the abuse continues until significant damage is done.
