I have wanted to do something great with my life as far back as I can remember. I thought in my twenties that I would reach the mountain top. Foolish me, I had so much to learn about greatness. I am in my mid forties now and I am still making mistakes and learning from them. The bottom line is this, we have no idea what it takes to maintain greatness. It requires so much learning and sacrifice. There must be a long intense training period, because greatness is not about us, but those around us.

I know that there are times when we are fearful about our future. We are living in some tough times these days. Not to mention how cruel some people can be for no reason at all. But we are not shy away from the thought of danger for it is only a thought. Most of the time the things we fear have no power at all. It’s just a smoke screen to keep us from moving forward in life. We know deep within ourselves what we need to do to advance our lives, and we should not allow fear and cruel people who say cruel things  stop us from doing what we’ve got to do.

When we are bombarded  with thoughts that tells us that it’s not going to work out, we must force our minds to think about how we want things to workout. When we do this, we move ourselves toward the thoughts that dominate our thinking. We have nothing to lose by engaging our thoughts to think appropriately. Think positive on purpose.

It is a good idea to have friends and surround ourselves with people that believe in what we are trying to accomplish with our lives. Before I really understood this principle, I would tell people about my dreams and many of them would either give me that look like, yea right, or tell me I was wasting my time. We can’t tell our dreams to everybody. Sharing with the wrong people can take the wind out of our momentum. We need to take the time to qualify people before we share with them intimately. People that believe in us and agree with us strengthens our commitment to see our dreams all the way through to the finish.

It doesn’t take much to be a hero. We just have to be willing to stand for something that is right for ourselves and others. We must not under estimate the influence that we have in the lives of those that our in our circle. Someone is always looking up to us, always watching and thinking that they would like to be more like us. It is a good idea for us to grow ourselves as people everyday so that we can encourage those that are watching in a powerful way.

A few weeks ago, I wrote about “The Battle”, and felt that I should dive a little deeper into this. We are constantly in a fight that is not a physical fight. You can’t bring a gun or knife to this fight. This is a battle that is raging within our own minds. We can feel the hits from the attack, but not in our flesh, but in our inner selves. Many of us sit back and allow our enemy to declare war against us in our minds and never do anything to fight back. The reason for this is because we don’t know how to fight back. We either stay silent, or become angry and want to lash out emotionally or physically. Everything in life happens twice. We see in our minds what we want and then go after it until it is a reality. But all things must first be realize in our minds. This is why our enemy wages war against our minds. We must learn to do warfare according to the weapons that are being used against us. Our thoughts must be protected  by our words. Any thought that comes against our mind that is contrary to what we want must be counteracted with words. When we open our mouths, our minds will have to focus on what we are saying, and thus, stop the onslaught the enemy is waging against us.
