If some where to ask you for a definition of your self, what would say? If I where to look you up in the dictionary of life, what would I find? Many of us would answer by either giving a list of things that have happened to us, mistakes we have made, what others have done to us, and or what we have accomplished. If we are not carefully, we can allow our existence  to be defined by all the wrong things. These are things that have occurred that may not reflect back to us an accurate portrait of who we really are. If it is not these things that define us then what is it?  It is to persevere though the truth on many levels. Persevere through the consequences of our own behavior; persevere through the consequences that have come upon us through the behaviors of others, and lastly and most importantly, persevere through the pain that comes when it is revealed that we are not where we are supposed to be in our lives.

Get your head up and keep it up! I have had that said to me on many occadions. Not matter the situation , we can keep our heads up. Don t allow the situation of life to cause you to loose hope. Keep your eyes on your target so that you know that you are moving in the right direction. If your head is down, you could easily end up way of track. It is easy to look down and allow negative thoughts to just dominate your mind. Look up and force your mind to focus on what you want.

Have you ever had something in life hit you so hard that you were emotionally knocked out, and the referee had started in with the ten count? The disappointment yells at you to stay down. In your other ear, that part of you that refuses to quit screams at you over and over to get up. Have you been there? I know I have. Just about six months ago, I got some news that hit me so hard that I physically had to go lay down. All my time, effort, and money went down the drain. It looked and felt as though it was all over. How in the world can I bounce back, I asked myself? At the time no answers to the problem came to me. But still, I made the decision to get up physically and emotionally. I vowed to find away to put the pieces back together and get it done. Considering where I am now, that which appeared to be a deadly blow actually turned out to be the best thing that could have happened. But what if I would not have gotten up and put things back in motion again? I would not be experiencing the victory that I have right now.

Optimism is defined as a tendency to look on the more favorable side of events or conditions and to expect the most favorable outcome. Some of us are more optimistic than others simply because of personality. But still , to be optimistic about things as a life style is easier said than done. Many of  us avoid being more optimistic about life because we want to protect ourselves in the case that our hopes are dashed by disappointment. It is our defense mechanism that begins to kick in by telling us not to get our hopes up because it will be to painful if things don’t work out. The problem with this is that many times, the situation require some involvement on our part other than just thinking positively.  But if we must protect ourselves, then chances are,  we will not follow through with actions that are required to produce an expected end.

Do you ever think about what your future holds, or are you one of those people that just live in the moment? One thing for sure is that tomorrow always seems to come. Since that has been pretty consistent, then it would make sense to think about how the future is going to turn out for us. I know this is difficult for some. When I was a young child, the future always meant that there was going to be another incident in my family that would keep me from having any kind of foundation to build a confident life on. So for me, it  just became easier for a while not to think about my future. I just let things come as they came, and believe me, they came, and I was not ready for most of it. Because I refused to look forward at certain stages, it has caused me at times to experience the unnecessary pain of missing out today because I would not look forward yesterday

When I was on staff at the last chucrh that I attened, the gentleman that I answered to would always say that when something a little adverse came up, that it was just a test. If we would all stop long enough to pay attention to what is really going on in our lives, we would recognize that most of the things that come up that we have to deal with really is just a test. So, if you get a passing grade, you get to move on in life to something a little more challangeing and fulfilling. Passing the test of life has a lot to with our attitude as we are going through our situations of adversity.
