First Things First

Sometimes it just seems like the wheels are actually falling off. When this happens we need to stop and check out the priority of things in our life. Stoping to put things in their proper place is a simple but elusive task. We get so busy doing,  that we forget what order things are to be done. The thing that is screaming the loudest is not at all the one that is for sure to get the attention at that moment. Watch out for these tricks of chaos and confusion. Working on number three when number two has not been addressed will create alot of both.

The Future

What a difficult concept to unfold. We know what we want in our future, but making it happen is a completely different issue. How do we get to a place in our lives when we have what we say we want. I really cant answer that question in terms of saying, do this, then do that, and so on.. But here is what I can say. Look around you, some of us are living right in the middle of our dreams and we don’t even realize it. We sometimes have a tendency to take for granted what is standing right in front of us because we miss the fact that our dreams are are being lived out right under our noises. Our dreams unfold before us so slowly that we miss it because our efforts are out there somewhere in our future. For some of us, it is hard to really enjoy and know that it is all good right now. Many of us don’t realize how good it is until something happens that snaps us out of our relentless pursuit of our “prosperous” future.

Keep Your Head Up

As I chose topics to write about everyday, I find myself writing about things that help others keep  their heads in  the right place. Throughout my life, I have often found myself in some tough spots and have had to learn to keep my own head up. I have come to find out that a lot of us live in this state of mind day in and day out. We are desperately looking for reasons to keep our heads up. Is there a magic formula? The answer is no, We have to figure things out based on who we are. Here is something that works for me. When ever I am down and out. I focus on being kind to someone else. There is no greater remedy to down and out than to flip it and help turn someone else’s heart to happiness.  When John The Baptist was beheaded, Jesus himself demonstrated this principle.

The Art of The Tongue

The tongue is a powerful member. It has the power to build lives or to destroy them. The willing of this weapon has started wars and it has ended wars. I was once told that God gave us a mouth for two reasons other than eating, and that is to say whats on your mind and to close the door concerning what may be on our mind. I know sometimes I have some things that I want to get off my mind that are better off staying on it for the sake of those in my presence. Nevertheless, some things that may not be pleasant have to be said. For those things to be received appropriately,  it really depends upon how cunning we are with our choice of words and our ability to transfer our thoughts to others without leaving them laying on the floor bleeding to death. I have watched and listened to people speak sweet things out of  their mouth and then within moments utter sheer ugliness from the same source. What man can master the art of the tongue? The answer is, the one that understands that he can not do it alone. I read in the Bible that the power of life and death are  in the power of the tongue. If that be the case we should constantly be searching for wisdom about life over all. the wise know when to speak and what to speak.

The 14th

It takes creativity to make it special every year. Doing something big does not always means it will be special. Learn to keep it simple by listening through out the year. Everybody is different, and it can be frustrating if you give a good effort and it produces the wrong result. So pay attention to the hints and it will be fine.

I Just Don’t Have Time

I hear people say this on a regular basis. A mentor of mine once told me that every minute of my day should have an assignment. That’s powerful, and I have yet to master it. I hope that one day soon I will. I know that if I can ever get to that point, I wont have to utter those depressing words. It’s no big secret, we don’t have the time because we haven’t made it by using what time we have properly. For every second that passes is a second we will never get back. From now on, maybe Ill start saying that I do have time. We make time for those things we want to do. We plan, work harder and longer just to get ready to have the time to do what we really want to do.

Issues Of The Heart

Do you have a heart for people? I know that the heart is a dip place that can hold a lot of things that need to be let go. Often we go about our daily business and refuse to deal with those issues. We move in and out of relationship and situations with these issue out of sight and out of mind, but not out of order. These issue are influencing us and we don’t even know it. I remember when I first had the desire to work in the ministry. I worked hard to position myself to do so. I had maneuvered myself into a good position that allowed me to minister to a couple of thousand people every month, After a while, it dawned on me that when it came right down to it, I could care less about what happened to people.  My heart towards people was not right, and that just didn’t seem like it was a good thing since I was in ministry. I had to figure out why my heart was in the condition it was and then make the necessary adjustments. When I did so, I began to see how wonderful people are and that many of us are really hurting inside, but we continue on everyday. This is why it is important to smile, say hello, and find something nice to say about people that cross our path, because everyone has heart issues.

The Dreamer

The dreamer is the one that can tell great stories and accomplish great things. The dreamer sees it within himself first and then has the tremendous task of bringing it to reality. So yes, dreams do come true. Never give up on them!!

The Game

Growing up as a boy back in my old neighborhood meant playing football in the streets, basketball at Horace Mann’s outside courts, or playing baseball in somebodies back yard. I loved those games, and wanted to play everyday.  All the kids in my neighborhood wanted to participate. We all got along well until somebody wanted to bend the rules to give themselves an unfair advantage. The game of life is no different. We all have a tendency to get along until someone breaks a rule. Rule breakers are constantly taking the fun out of the game. I know that there will be times that we will all have the penalty flag thrown at us, but I’m talking about those that practice breaking the rules of life in hopes to gain an unfair advantage. Those of us that are trying to play within the rules of the game often struggle with those that aren’t because it looks like they are getting away with murder. Trust me my friends, they are not getting away with anything. Their behavior will eventually catch up to them. Even if it doesn’t, and I assure you it will, that’s not the kind of people we want to be anyway.

You Are What You Are

There are some things about me that I just don’t like. Even when I was a kid,  I just seemed to want to be less risky with my behavior than the rest of the kids in my circle. I was made to feel inferior by some of the kids in my grandmothers neighborhood because I was not willing to do some of the things they wanted me to do in order to hang out with them. I was devastated inside because of the rejection, but still I was what I was. Later in life, those same restraints that were built into who I am have been a tremendous asset to me and my family. The bottom line is that we are what we are and many of the aspects about ourselves may come in handy somewhere down the line in life, even if others think we are strange. Stay true to you!!
